Symphyotrichum lateriflorum 'Lady in Black' is a clump-forming perennial with a profusion of branching sprays covered with small white flowers.  The dark purple stems are clothed with small, narrow, dark purple leaves creating interest throughout the season. It was raised by the designer Piet Oudolf and is a great source of nectar for bees and butterflies.
